6.1. Prepare the Pipe

1. Cut the Pipe: Using a pipe cutter, cut the existing pipe to the desired length, ensuring a clean, square cut. For replacing a section, remove up to 2 inches of damaged pipe.
2. Deburr the Pipe: Use the SharkBite deburring tool to remove any sharp edges or burrs from the inside and outside of the pipe. This is crucial to prevent damage to the O-ring seal within the fitting.
3. Clean the Pipe: Ensure the pipe surface is clean and free of scratches, dirt, or debris.
4. Mark the Insertion Depth: Use a SharkBite depth gauge or the SharkBite deburring tool to measure and mark the correct insertion depth on the pipe. This mark indicates how far the pipe needs to be inserted into the fitting for a secure connection. Refer to the SharkBite website for specific depth charts if needed.

6.2. Install the Slip Ball Valve

1. Slide First End: Slide the 'SLIP END' of the ball valve onto one end of the prepared pipe as far as it will go, past the insertion depth mark.
