Connect the power cord to the rear of the printer and then plug the other end into an electrical outlet. Press the power button to turn on the printer. Do not connect the USB cable at this time; the connection to the computer is established during software installation.

Lift the ink access door and open the tank covers. Carefully open each ink bottle, matching the color to the corresponding tank. Invert the bottle over the tank nozzle and allow the ink to drain until the tank is full. Do not squeeze the bottle. If the bottle does not start draining, remove it and reinsert it onto the tank. Close the tank covers and the ink access door once all tanks are filled.

After filling the ink tanks, lift the ink access door again and wait for the carriage to move to the center. Press the blue button to open the printhead cover. Remove and discard the orange guard. Carefully remove the printheads from their packaging, removing the orange cap and protective tape. Insert the black and tri-color printheads into their associated slots. Close the printhead cover and then the ink access door.
